“Summer Seed Share” Empowering Immigrant Communities To Grow Their Own Food!

Summertime has taken hold of our fair city! We here at ECOTONE World, along with the support of our title sponsor Botanical Interest, want to make sure we’re putting seeds in the hands of young people and their families; encouraging them to “grow something you can eat!” As we move around the City of Houston we carry this message wherever we go.

At this particular event we set up a table at the Connect YMCA Summer Camp Day to promote our upcoming Summer Cooking Camp and bring awareness to local immigrant families – many of which live in apartment complexes and were encouraged by our discussion on container gardening! Big Shout Out to Botanical Interest, who has provided “high quality garden seeds” to our program for many years. You’re the best and we appreciate your confidence in our approach!

“Eat the Heat” –Back in the Kitchen with “Community Kids Cook w/ Chef Tarsha” 2022 Summer Camp

In Texas we’re really feeling the sizzle of summer right now and “it’s getting hot in here!” Not to worry, we’ve got plenty of refreshing summer drinks on the menu too: Tropical Fruit Lemonade and Mardi Gras Iced Tea that will perfectly compliment our hot Summer Menu!

Back in the kitchen after a two year hiatus, we can’t wait to give your young students the best hands-on cooking experience this side of the Gulf Coast! Our Summer Menu captures the love of youthful food favorites like “Pancakes” and highlights cultural flavor profiles that students will add to their lifetime cooking repertoire. We know these recipes will be tasty for the whole family and carry everyone thru the upcoming school year with healthier food choices from here on out.

Special thanks to our sponsors this year: Chef D.C. Williams (Advisory Board Member), Chef Mark Holley of Davis Street Restaurant at Hermann Park; Chef’s Produce; African Center of Wellbeing; Professor Torbert’s Orange Corn; Cast Iron Skillet Culinaire, LLC and Christian Community Service Center Garden. A very special shout out to all of our Advisory Board Members who did an outstanding job contributing to this summer’s camp fundraiser. Thank you all for years of valued service insuring the success of our ECOTONE World Mission.

Camp starts July 18, 2022 we’ll see you there —- Chef Tarsha!!!
